Monrad E. AlstadMonrad E. 'Monnie' Alstad, age 72, of Monico died on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at his home. Monnie was born on February 14, 1936 in Racine, Wisconsin to Einer and Amanda (Harthun) Alstad. Monnie attended Lutheran High School in Racine. Upon graduation in 1954, he joined the United States Marine Corps from which he was honorably discharged in 1956. He married the former Barbara Rosenquist on February 16, 1957 in Racine. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2000. He worked as a machinist for Twin Disc in Racine for 27 years until his retirement in 1998. After retirement, he and his wife moved to their retirement home in Monico. Monnie enjoyed fishing, woodworking, bowling, dancing, and working in his yard. Monnie is survived by his daughter, Doreen (Kevin) Rogalla of Rhinelander; son, Richard (Andrea) Alstad of Weston; and daughter Diane (Warren) Klemick, Jr. of Monico; his sisters, LaVerne Glenn of Racine and Garnet Theama of Wisconsin Rapids; his grandchildren, John (Tammy) Kildahl, Jennifer (Cyrus) Klingen, Katie Jo and Vincent Rogalla, and Jacob and Sara Alstad; and two great-grandchildren, Marissa Martin and Emily Kildahl; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Alex Shafranski; his wife, Barbara and sister, Marilyn Adrian.Funeral services for Monnie will be held on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Racine with Reverend Stephen Jennings officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in Monnie's name and contributions may be directed to the family.
