Obituary

RACINE – Milton E. "Milt" Unterbrink, 91, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Sunday, July 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Milt was born in East Alton, IL on July 27, 1925 to Albert and Elfleda (nee, Short) Unterbrink. Milt moved to Racine where he met and married the love of his life, Nina (nee, Rizzo) on April 28, 1951 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Milt was employed by Belle City Malleable from 1947 to 1955. He was then employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1985. Unterbrink was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Racine Bowling Association from 1967 until 1977. He was the Racine Bowling Association President and was elected to the Hall of Fame. He became a Lifetime member in 2016. Milt is a Past President, Life Member and Ambassador for the Wisconsin State Bowling Association and was elected to the State Hall of Fame in 1996. Milt served his country in the U.S. Army as a member of the "353". He was awarded a trip on the "Honor Flight" with his daughter in November 2016. He was a member of VFW Post 1391, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 346, a member of Tripoli Shriners and the Racine Belle City Lodge #18. Milt was a Cardinal fan and while golfing in the Johnson Park retired league had a hole in one. Milt loved his church family. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church for many years and served on several committees. Survivors include his wife, Nina Unterbrink; sons, Danny (Wendy) Unterbrink of Puerto Rico and Wayne Unterbrink; daughter, Wanda (Craig) Faris both of Racine; grandchildren, Heidi (Aaron) Onsrud, Tricia (Mark) Boerboom and Jacob Faris; great grandchildren, Brennan, Aubrey and Adeline. He is further survived by his brothers, Lynn Unterbrink and Ray Unterbrink; sisters, Ruth Volz and Joyce Hutchens; two special canines, Rocky and Pebbles; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Esther Hazen. Funeral services for Milt will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3825 Erie Street, on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Francis officiating. A private family interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ascension All Saints for all of their care and compassion.
