Racine – Michael E. Strand, 68 passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness, on Thursday, October 27, 2011.Michael was born in Duluth, MN on March 13, 1943 to Ero and Lila Strand. He married the former Judith A. Smythe and celebrated 45 years of marriage in September. Michael retired from Racine Unified School DistrictMichael is survived by his wife, Judith A. Strand; and their children, Mickey (Mary) Strand, Brian (Jessica) Strand, Stephanie Strand, Aaron (Dawn) Strand, Matthew (Lisa) Strand, Peter 'Tobie' (Carolyn) Strand, Nathan (Elizabeth) Strand and Rebecca (Brian) Stork; fifteen grandchildren; his sister, Diane Scott; and sister-in-law, Jane Smythe.In keeping with Michael's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held in Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the National Parkinson's Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
