Michael J. Quayle
Michael J. Quayle, 82, passed away at Ascension Healthcare on July 18, 2022.
Michael was born in Appleton on March 13, 1940 to Elmer and Margaret (nee: Sheerin) Quayle. He married Barbara Giever in Racine on July 7, 1962. Michael was awarded a National Merit Scholarship to Notre Dame where he graduated summa cum laude in Chemistry. After working as a chemist, he next obtained his MBA from the University of Minnesota. Michael spent the majority of his business career as a strategic business planner, later pursuing private consulting roles for various companies.
Michael was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. He enjoyed playing cards especially Shafskopf, cribbage and poker, as well as bowling and camping. His love of boxing was only exceeded by his passion for Notre Dame football. His soft spot for cookies and candy, especially malted milk balls, persisted his entire life! But most of all Michael was a devoted husband of 60 years, father and grandfather. His favorite times were those spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Quayle; sons Michael Scott (Laura) Quayle of Carlisle, MA, and Jeffrey James (Melanie) Quayle of Stillwater, OK; grandchildren Griffin, Arianna and Braeden Quayle; his sister Patricia Benson and her daugher Jessie Benson, both of Couperville, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Raymond and Anna Giever, and his brother Jerry Quayle.
A memorial visitation for Michael will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10:15 until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials to the ASPCA or other animal charities have been suggested.
