Racine – Michael S. Chernouski, 55, went home to be with the Lord at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Mike was born in Racine on June 2, 1955 to Philip and LaVerne (nee, Piepmeyer) Chernouski. He married the former Barbara Hoffman on May 29, 1982. Mike retired from Johnson Diversey after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed being actively involved in Faith Community Church for many years. He was an exemplary husband and proud papa. From vacations to breakfast dates and movie nights with his children, Mike never missed an opportunity to be with his family. His faith and godly character inspired many with whom he worked and lived. Beloved husband of Barb, he is also survived by his children, Libby and Ethan; his mother, LaVerne Chernouski; brother, Tom (Karen) Chernouski; and sister, Sally (Dave) Pedersen. Mike is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip; sister, Peggy Duffy; and brother, John Chernouski. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at Faith Community Church, 215 S. Newman Road, on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Dino Galati officiating. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday evening from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the physicians, nurses and staff of Froedtert, the members of the Racine Multiple Myeloma Support Group, family and friends for all of their care, compassion, support and prayers.
