- Metta Evelyn "Eve" Reiker, 100, passed away at her residence on July 15, 2018. Eve was born December 12, 1917 in Loda, Illinois, the oldest child to Silas and Metta (nee: Ellison) Roland. She spent most of her working years in accounting and at the time of her retirement was an office Manager. Eve lived most of her life in Illinois until she moved to Racine to help take care of her mother. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies such as knitting, sewing, reading, playing card games and traveling. She is survived by her brother Dallas Roland, nephews and nieces, Christopher Roland, Hilton "Tony" Roland, Ann (Doug) Sullivan and Eve (Susan MacArevey) Roland, great nieces and nephews, Jacqueline, Jillian "Ian", Juston, Molly (Hillary) Brennan and Caleb (Lucinda) Sullivan and great-great nephew and niece Erik and Keira Sullivan.Eve was also known as G.G. Reiker to the family of Kay and Al Hertel, who adopted her as their grandmother; their family includes Becky Krause and her children Blake and Brandon, Brenda (Dan) Sherman and their children Mackenzie, Miranda, JC and Maddie, Beverly (Kelly) Zayas and Barb (Kevin Young) Hertel. They have been very loyal and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Milton Hlava and Ed Reiker, sisters Catherine, Alberta and Angela and sister in law Mary Roland. A memorial service for Metta will be held at the Atrium of Racine, 3900 North Main Street on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Private family inurnment will take place in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
