Caledonia-Mary Elizabeth (nee: Scherschel) Leiberg, age 86, passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth Residence, on Tuesday morning, August 20, 2013. Mary was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on January 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Harry and Virginia (nee: DeLoach) Scherschel. Mary was raised and lived in Milwaukee until moving to Racine in 1957.On November 25, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin she was united in marriage to Edward A. Leiberg, who passed away in 1980. Mary held various job to help support her family in the early years including that of a telephone operator, stock room clerk at Terry's Department Store, and then in 1973 she worked as an Inspector at Harris Metals Inc. until 1989 when she retired. After she retired she worked part-time at DeRango's Pizza Palace as a dishwasher and she would help out in kitchen at the meal in Lincoln Villas North on Ruby Avenue where she resided for numerous years. Mary enjoyed traveling especially to Door County, she also loved music including singing, playing cards, going to the movies, and going to Brewer games, but more than anything she always loved Sunday dinners and holidays with her family.Anyone who knew Mary will always remember her as just being a very 'nice lady' that everyone wanted to be around. She will be sadly missed by her son, Jeffrey Leiberg Sr. of Kingman, Arizona; daughter Eileen (Louis) Cruz of Racine; daughters-in-law, Jeanne Leiberg of Racine and Vicki Leiberg of Oconto; grandson, Jeffrey Leiberg Jr. of Kingman, Arizona; step-grandchildren, Tanya (Kevin) Kessinger of Kenosha, Bill (Irma) Mueller, and Tony Bane of Racine; step-great-grandchildren, Gina, Anissa, Anjelica, and Bill Jr; and her beloved cat,' Sweetie'; and many nieces, nephews and other friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her sons, Edward L. and Daryl H. Leiberg; brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Betty) Scherschel; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Lester Leiberg, Tony (Marcella) Leiberg, Jerome (Clara) Leiberg, and James Leiberg; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Marie Leiberg.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Purath Strand Funeral Home, 3915 Douglas Avenue, Racine, Wisconsin. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin.
