RACINE – Mary F. Koenen, 94, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Monday, March 30, 2015. Mary was born in Milwaukee on December 24, 1920 to Alexander and Fannie (nee, Jermonik) Petushek. She was united in marriage to William C. Koenen. He preceded her in death in 1997. After being a homemaker for many years, Mary worked for Time Magazine and PDI. During her retirement years, Mary volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at St. Monica's. She also helped teach adults how to read at the Racine Literary Council. Mary had many hobbies and was a master of all of them. She loved cooking, gardening, interior decorating, reading, crossword puzzles and Sudoku. Survivors include her children, Richard (Elaine) Koenen and Kathleen (William) Crawford; grandchildren, Laura Gangl, Julie (John) Farney, Jennifer Koenen and Trisha (Michael) Alley; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Maxwell, Jacob, Jonah, Mercedes, Regan, Jersey, Jaxon and Lauren; and sister, Helen Ratkowski. She is further survived by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Alex Petushek and Peter Petushek; and her sisters, Ann Valerio and Delores Petushek. In keeping with Mary's wishes, private family services were held followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.
