Obituary

Mary Kelegian Racine - Mary Kelegian, nee, Gengozian, 85, passed away at Claire Bridge Alterra of Kenosha on Thursday, July 26, 2007. Mary was born in Racine on October 3, 1921 to Dikran and Yeghsapert (nee, Hacherian) Gengozian. She married Kegham Kelegian in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1963. Mary retired from Wells Fargo Bank in West Allis after more than 20 years of service. She was also a model, professional seamstress and an excellent cook. Mary worked tirelessly to support her family and serve her church. She was a very giving person to anyone in need. She used her God-given gifts to serve the Lord by serving others. Mary was a member of the Women's Guild at St. John Armenian Church (Greenfield) and St. Mesrob Armenian Church (Racine). Survivors include her daughter, Anoush Kelegian; son Fr. Yeprem (Judy) Kelegian; granddaughters, Talene Kelegian and Marisa Kelegian; sister, Nuresa Harvey; brothers, Dr. Nazareth (Leone) Gengozian and Peter (Mary) Gengozian; and sister-in-law, Lorraine (Art) Wangerin. Mary is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John Gengozian. Funeral services for Mary will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie Street, on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Garabed Kochakian, pastor of St. John Armenian Church in Detroit, officiating. Interment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Prayer Services at 7:45 p.m. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to St. John Armenian Church or St. Mesrob Armenian Church or the charity of your choice. Special thanks to the many friends who faithfully visited Mary.
