Racine- Mary N. Katerdjian, 87 passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026 in her home.
She was born in Alexandria, Egypt on January 29, 1939 to the late Nazaret and Arshalouys (nee: Toukhtarian) Kalfaian.
Mary was a graduate of Kalousdian Armenian School and the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
On June 13, 1962 she married Onnig Katerdjian in Cairo, Egypt. In 1978 they immigrated to the United States.
Mary was employed with Young Radiator in the accounting department until her retirement.
She was a very active, faithful member of St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church and a dedicated Armenian school teacher. Mary was a member of the Women’s Guild, Hokevor (Spiritual) Sisters, and the heritage committee. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Onnig Katerdjian; her children Margo (Sarkis) Kaftajian and Aram Katerdjian; her grandchildren Vatche Kaftajian, Alex Kaftajian and Alena Samolic; her great-grandchildren Thomas, Isabella, Gabriela and Delilah. Mary is further survived by her sister Anahid Kalfaian; her brother Nishan Kalfaian,; her sister-in-law Seta (Sarkis) Andekian; her niece Melinee and her nephew Stephen.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her sister Madlein Habesha.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie Street, Racine on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
