Obituary

Racine-Mary Manam (nee, Armaganian) Kaprelian, 85, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.Mary was born in Racine on September 6, 1926 to Mihran and Tervanda (nee, Margosian) Armaganian. She married Sam Sarkis Kaprelian on December 6, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2012. Mary graduated from Washington Park High School in 1944. She was employed by Webster Electric and later with Sheridan Woods Florists. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Mesrob Armenian Church where she was also a charter member of the Women's Guild in 1945. She served as the Guild's chairperson in 1971 and 1985. She was active in many of the Guild's activities, including scheduling and planning bus trips, using her talents from her time at the florist to make flower arrangement for the many dinners at the church, and working with the Hot Meal Program. Mary also was a Sunday school teacher throughout the years along with her husband Sam. She was active in the Girl Scouts, the Cub Scouts and served as President of the Mitchell School P.T.A.Mary loved to do word search and play Scrabble and became a Church Scrabble Champion in 2009. She was an avid fan of Wisconsin's sports team. Mary loved to cook traditional Armenian foods with her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for the close relationships she had with her many friends. Mary is survived by her children, John of Union Grove, Mark (Beverly) of Racine, Paul (Kathy) of Franksville and Nancy Kaprelian Tackett of Pewaukee; grandchildren, John (Julie), Adam and Molly Kaprelian and Sam and Luke Tackett; and brother, Adam (Judy) Armaganian. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and many close friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Jack, Aram and Richard Armaganian.Funeral services for Mary will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Church on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. There will also be visitation at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Mesrob Armenian Church have been suggested. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Doctors and nurses, in the I.C.U. at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints for their kind and compassionate care.
