RACINE – Mary Andekian, 91, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Mary was born in Racine on January 20, 1924 to Arsen and Sophie (nee, Salbashian) Andekian. She was a member of St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church; was a member of the Women's Guild and A.G.B.U. Mary retired from Milwaukee Public Schools where she was a fourth grade teacher at Longfellow Elementary for many years. She enjoyed cruising, needlepointing and reading. Survivors include her sisters and brother, Gloria Martin, Nazaly (Peter) Chobanian, Sarkis (Seta) Andekian and Takouhi (Tarquin) Andekian. Mary is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Elizabeth Oldham; and her brother, Minas Andekian. Funeral services for Mary will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. Memorials may be directed to St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church.
