Obituary

Racine – Martin C. Andersen, 84, passed on peacefully at Elizabeth Residence on Monday, February 25, 2013.Marty was born in Racine on May 2, 1928 to Martin and Marion (Washtock) Andersen. He married his cherished wife, Marion Rasmussen on May 7, 1949 and had three loving daughters, Nancy (Lance) LaForest, Mary (Kurt) Kophamer and Janet (David) Macemon. In their wonderful 64 years of marriage they enjoyed spending time with their daughters, son-in-laws and their families; hosting: holidays, parties, card games. Marty loved playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retiring from Twin Disc in 1990 as a Numerical Control Programmer, Marty and Marion spent many winters in Alabama and Florida.Marty was a graduate of Park High School and Spencerian Business College. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. He was a member of the Twin Disc Twenty Year Club, Bell City Investment Club, Danish Brotherhood and Dania Hall. Marty valued helping others and cherished life by donating blood for many years. Marty attended Emmaus Lutheran Church with his family.Survivors include his wife, Marion, three daughters and their husbands, eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and his brother, Donald (Joan) Andersen. Marty is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and many good friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dick Andersen and Bill Andersen; and his sisters, Lois Christensen, Betty Wassil, and Marian Hanley.Funeral services for Marty will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Purath-Stand Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff's at Elizabeth Residence, Season's Hospice and Lincoln Lutheran Daycare for all of their compassionate care.
