Obituary

Martha Sandin Racine - Martha (nee, Ruppel) Sandin, 91, passed away at home on Saturday, March 10, 2007 with her family at her side. Martha was born in Three Oaks, MI on December 8, 1915 to Alexander and Marie K. (nee, Linker) Ruppel. She married Roy R. Sandin in Racine on December 25, 1939. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1976. She was a member of Lutheran Chapel of the Cross, Ladies Guild and 55+ Club. Martha also volunteered many years at the Lutheran High School Thrift Store. Survivors include her children, Gretchen (Rev. Lee) Woolery of Calgary, Alberta and Linda (Larry) Chambliss of Racine; son-in-law, Terry Koebernick; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Esther Heffel; sister-in-law, Romayne Ruppel and brother-in-law, Frank Putra. Martha is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Marsha Koebernick and Julie Koebernick; son-in-law, Rev. Robert Koebernick; sisters, Bertha Chadwick and Lillian Putra; brothers, Alex Ruppel and Edward Ruppel; brothers-in-law, Earl Heffel and James Chadwick; and special friend, Chuck Killberg. Funeral services for Martha will be held at Lutheran Chapel of the Cross, 1426 North Fancher Road on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Lee Woolery officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
