Martha M. Kraus Racine - Martha M. (nee, Meyer) Kraus, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Lakeshore Manor on Sunday, March 11, 2007. Martha was born in Milwaukee on February 16, 1921 to Christian and Elisabeth (nee, Steiben) Meyer. She married Edward A. Kraus at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on May 4, 1946. Martha was formerly employed at Wm. Horlick High School. She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She thoroughly enjoyed her role in life as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Edward A. Kraus; son, Lawrence (Jane) Kraus of Racine; daughter, Julie (Douglas) Merow of Kenosha; grandchildren, Jeff (Niki) Kraus, Angela (Scott) Rasch, Amy Herrmann, Carrie Herrmann and Elise Merow; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Marie Meyer of Racine; and niece, Connie Winbauer of Minneapolis, MN. Martha is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Constantine Meyer and Arthur Meyer. Funeral services for Martha will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 725 High Street, on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. James F. Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Caledonia Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Martha's name.
