Obituary

Margaret Balian Dadian, beloved wife, cherished mother, adoring grandmother, proud great-grandmother, dearest sister, loving aunt, and faithful friend, entered the glorious Kingdom of Heaven on November 2, 2026, at the age of 90. She leaves behind a legacy of family, faith, and devotion to her Armenian heritage.

Born in Racine, Wisconsin, to Artin and Zarouhi Balian, Margaret was a graduate of William Horlick High School. In May 1964, she married Charles “Chuck” Garabed Dadian, a World War II Army veteran who was loved and admired by all who knew him. Chuck’s career with Twin Disc brought them to New Orleans, where they established a home and formed lasting friendships. They welcomed their two sons, Gregory Zaven and Michael Charles, and in 1971, the family returned to Racine. Margaret may have missed her life in the south, yet nothing would eclipse the home she created filled with love, laughter, music and family gatherings.

Margaret worked for a Racine design firm before later serving as an office administrator for a local law firm. A self-taught pianist, she combined her love of music with her Armenian heritage through her service as choir director and later as organist at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church for many decades. She also sang with the Milwaukee Choristers and had a lifelong appreciation for the symphony and live performances of all kinds. An avid bowler and gracious hostess, she enjoyed great food, good conversation, and the company of family and friends.

The unexpected passing of her beloved Chuck, just two weeks after her 50th birthday, was the greatest heartbreak of her life. For the next 40 years, she carried his memory and the love they shared. Margaret is now reunited with him, together once again in the eternal presence of our Lord.

Margaret will be deeply missed by her sons, Gregory Zaven (Marilyn) and Michael Charles (Tena); grandchildren, Talene, Mason (Taylor), Mia, Zaven (Arpi), and Zeke; great-granddaughter, Jaclyn; sister-in-law Shockey Julie and Margaret Balian; her extended Akgulian, Williams, Julie, Injasoulian, and Meldonian families, among many others; and the countless friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chuck; her brother, Chuck Balian; her sister, Pat Balian; and her sisters/brothers-in-law, Mary & Mark Akgulian, Margaret & Richard Williams, Mary Ann Injasoulian, and Don Julie.

Margaret will be remembered for her devotion to family, her musical talents, her faith, and the pride she took in her Armenian roots. Her memory will remain a cherished part of the family and Armenian community she held so dear.

Visitation will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie Street, on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are to St Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church.
