Obituary

Mt. Pleasant – Mardell Davis, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2024, having enjoyed beautiful last visits with her loving family.

Mardell was born in Racine on January 21, 1933 to Arnold and Gladys (nee: Rasmussen) Hansen.

Mardell attended Knapp, McKinley, and Park High School, graduating in the "Class of 1951."

While working at Rick's Deli on Washington Avenue as a teenager, she met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Davis. They were united in marriage on November 17, 1952 and enjoyed 54 wonderful years together until his passing on February 6, 2007.

Mardell worked for the Wisconsin Gas and Electric Company upon graduation from high school. She continued to work there while her husband was away in Germany, serving in the U.S. Army. Later, she was employed by the Ladish Co. in Cudahy, Wisconsin in the Metallurgical Department.

When their first child was three years old, Dick and Mardell moved to California. Dick worked for Ladish Pacific in Los Angeles. After one year, they returned to Racine. Mardell worked for American National Insurance Co.  Later, they moved to Greendale and then to Cudahy before returning to Racine.

Dick and Mardell started the Ladish Company diecast tooling division- Belle Tool Specialty in Racine in 1973. They retired together in 1997.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mardell was preceded in death by her sister Joyce (Chester) Palmer, brother Warren (Caroline) Schultz, daughter-in-law Jackie Davis, and countless lifelong friends.

She will be dearly missed by her three children: Cherie (Jeff) Miner, Scott (Linda) Davis, and Todd (Nancy) Davis. Additionally, she leaves behind ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital- Franklin Campus as well as Compassus Hospice for their support and services in Mardell's final days.

Per Mardell's wishes, a memorial service was held privately. Those who would like to honor Mardell's memory may do so by donating to H.O.P.E Safehouse.
