Obituary

Marcia R. Christofferson (nee Barbeau), 70, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Medical Center on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Marcia was born on August 21, 1955, to Edmund and Madeline (nee Sufflon) Barbeau. She married Michael Christofferson in 1982, and together they built a life centered on love, family and shared memories. Marcia graduated from St. Luke’s Nursing School in Racine and devoted more than 40 years of compassionate care to patients at the Wheaton Franciscan Orthopedic Clinic. Marcia embraced all that life had to offer— traveling, spending time up north with family, holiday decorating and hosting, going out to dinner, reading, bowling and playing pool. She liked to relax with a good (really) dirty martini.
Most importantly, her greatest joy came from the time she shared with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Marcia will be dearly missed by her husband, Mike; her son, Brett (Ashley) Christofferson; her daughter, Ashley (LaQuan) Fenderson; and her grandchildren, Mackenzie and Mikayla Christofferson, and Layton, Lexington, and Lorenzo Fenderson. She is further survived by her siblings: Shelley (Richard) Fridell, Mary Jo Barbeau (Frank Marioni), Michael (Kathy) Barbeau, Martin Barbeau (Sylvia Gomez), Marc (Lori) Barbeau, Meg (Albert) Ramirez, Mia Barbeau, Ellyn (Duane) Ferguson, Ric Barbeau, and Brad Barbeau; and by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ralph (Mary Ann) Christofferson and Vicki (John) Hawes. Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive her.

Visitation for Marcia will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. The WI Nurses Honor Guard will perform a Final Call to Duty Service for Nurse Marcia. Private family inurnment will take place on a later date. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Marcia’s dedicated and compassionate care team at Aurora St. Luke’s. Memorial contributions to Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center Transplant Program are appreciated.
