Racine – Louis John Sorenson, 74, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Lou was born in Racine on March 28, 1939 to Gordon and Genevieve (nee, Pach) Sorenson. On September 17, 1960, Lou married the former Beverly Schildt, recently celebrating 53 years of marriage. Lou retired from Chrysler after 38 years. He loved hunting and his dogs, but most of all he loved his family. Lou is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters, Lynn (Tom) Lamie and Francine (Mark) Merritt; grandchildren, Alexis, Allison, Hunter Louis and Hailey; his brothers, Joseph (Shirley) Sorenson and Robert (Cecilia) Sorenson; and brothers-in-law, Robert (Dorothy) Schildt and Donald Schildt. Lou is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friend Carol Obernberger. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean and special friend Wayne Obernberger. A memorial gathering for Lou will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the American Lung Association or the National Kidney Foundation. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff in the ICU at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints for their exceptional care.
