RACINE - Lorraine L. Matelski, 94, passed away Sunday July 26, 2015, at her residence after a long illness. Lorraine was born in Kaukauna, Wisconsin on March 26, 1921. Lorraine has been resident of Racine since 1928, and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 85 years. She graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School and attended Racine Vocational School before entering the workforce during the depression. On November 29, 1941, she was united in marriage at Sacred Heart Church to Chester T. Matelski who preceded her in death on December 21, 1981. In her younger years she was active in the church and Christian Mothers Society.Surviving are three sons and three daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald (Judith) Matelski of Sun City Center, FL; Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Lanh) Matelski of Racine; Mr. and Mrs. William (Marilyn) Matelski of Mt. Pleasant; and a daughter, Ms. Marcia Matelski of Racine; 12 grandchildren, Mark, James and Jonathan Matelski, Thomas, Kim, Tonya Matelski and Jean Boulware, James, Kenneth, Jason, Theodore Matelski and Katy Romblom; 13 great grandchildren; one sister and one sister-in-law, Betty Heegeman of Racine, and Irene Matelski of Kenosha. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.In addition to her husband, Chester, Mrs. Matelski was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore (Hendrika) Heegeman; by two sisters Marie Sowinski and Dorothy Christman; and by two brothers, Jack and LeRoy Heegeman; and several dear friends and relatives.The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Avenue, on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Ronald O. Crewe. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery following the mass. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the Church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10:30 a.m.The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to Dr. Short, Dr. Gobrial, Family Care, Sheryl Koker and Lorraine's children, Marcia and Bob for their loving and compassionate care during Lorraine's illness for the past eleven years.
