Caledonia – Libbie Bouska, 104, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Libbie was born January 7, 1909, the daughter of George and Anna Bouska. She was born on the homestead her grandparents settled in 1868. Here she lived her entire life. Libbie graduated from the Racine High School in 1926. She was one of the students who started school together in her primary class and graduated Eighth Grade together from Lamberton School which still stands on the corner of Seven Mile Road and Highway 32. In contrast to today's busing, in order to attend high school in Racine it was necessary for her to provide her own transportation. Libbie used the MRK to and from school. Libbie worked in several offices in the Racine area. In 1942 after three years at home because of her mother's illness she started work for Western Publishing Company before retiring in 1971after 29 years. Libbie was a conservationist and supported many environmental and conservancy organizations. Chiwaukee Prairie had been one of her interests, purchasing several lots to add to the prairie. She enjoyed the out-of-doors along with her faithful dogs. Libbie was a life member of the Wisconsin Natural Foods Associates and the National Health Federation. During her early retirement she had visited several of the various states including Arizona, Minnesota and the Hawaiian Islands. She visited former neighbors that had moved to Canada. Libbie took a short trip to Las Vegas, NV and rounded out her traveling with the Centennial Bus Trip to the southeastern United States, including Atlanta and southern Georgia. Later becoming content with her gardening and enjoying her remaining years on the family farm. Libbie was a member of Franksville United Methodist Church. Libbie is survived by many second cousins, other relatives and friends. Libbie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bessie. In keeping with Libbie's wishes, a private interment will take place at Bohemian National Cemetery. As a last request, Libbie wanted to extend her appreciation to Randy and Joann, and her caregivers, Lynn and Karin who provided excellent care at her home in her last days.
