CALEDONIA - Leonard F. Pilling, 80, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025 at his residence in Racine.
Leonard "Lenny" was born on November 20, 1944, the son of Eugene and Lorraine Pilling.
As a youth, Lenny spent his summers on his grandmother Emma's farm in Stockbridge, Wisconsin. Memories of time spent there would forever be shared with his children and grandchildren.
At a young age he met the love of his life Patricia Zager and were united in marriage on June 20, 1966. Soon after he enlisted in the army and served our country in Vietnam. Upon his return, he continued with his incredible ability to fix almost anything and eventually settled in Racine as a journeyman mechanic at the Case IH Corporation. Over the years he instilled in his children and grandchildren a solid work ethic and respect for others. His children will surely never forget the many "hundred dollars on the counter" life lessons he shared.
Lenny is survived by his children; daughter, Dana (Jason) Melzer; son, Leonard (Michelle) Pilling; grandchildren: Emma, Jacob, and Madeline; and his sister Bonnie Vertz. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia and his parents Eugene and Lorraine Pilling.
The family would like to extend great thanks to all the friends and family that reached out to offer help and support, especially Lenny's neighbors – words cannot express how thankful we are to them.
Per Leonard's request, the family will have a private service.
