RACINE – Leonard S. Donnelly, 94, passed away at home on Thursday, May 12,2016. Len was born in Iroquois County, IL on February 14, 1922 to Robert and Elsie (nee, Mason) Donnelly. He married Alice (nee, Coe) on August 19, 1944. She preceded him in death on August 28, 1955. Len married the former Mary K. Meythaler on June 22, 1957 in New Glarus, WI. He was the operator of his own business, Donnelly Photographics, until he retired in 1987. Len was past president of Belle City Toastmasters Club. He also was a member of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce where he was the Treasurer and served on the board of directors for several years. Len was also a member of the Kiwanis Club. As a member of the Advertising Club of Racine, he was awarded the Silver Medal for Ad Man of the Year in 1976 and held several offices in the club. He loved chess, golf, which he played since his teens, digital photography, computers, traveling, but most of all his family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Mary Donnelly; sons, Larry (Kathryn) Donnelly and L. Scott (Catherine) Donnelly; grandchildren, Megan, Liam, Lauren, Katelyn, David and Mariah; sisters in law, Barbara Norris of Livermore, CA and Margaret (John) Sarbacker of Moorhead, MN.,nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. His parents, brother Frank, and sister Roberta preceded him in death. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family for a memorial visitation on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of formal funeral services, a celebration of Len's life will be held at a family ceremony at a future date. A private family inurnment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Special thanks to Angie, our "angel", who so lovingly cared for Len, day and night, for well over a year. Thanks also to the Steen Larsen family, Mike and Molly, Georgene and the wonderful workers from hospice and home health care who helped Len, plus those of you who phoned, visited us or had us in your thoughts and prayers.
