Obituary
He was born in Pennsylvania on November 24, 1946 to the late John E. and Ruth (nee: Deal) Smith.
Leo was a 1964 graduate of Moniteau High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1968.
He enjoyed visiting family, playing cribbage and bingo and throwing horseshoes.
He is survived by his daughters Jodie Barrios and Joyce Maranger; his grandchildren Ryan, Stephanie, and Kayla Dibble, Emily (Jack) Jorgenson, Abbygail Maranger and Kaitlyn Maranger; his 10 great-grandchildren; his sisters Shirley Keefer, Ellen Fleeger, Leona (Don) Pupak and Norma (Bob) Hovorka; his former wife Carol Smith and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Leo is preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1sister.
A memorial service for Leo will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Purath-Strand Funeral Home. Full military honors will follow. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 4:00 p.m.b until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials to a veteran's organization of your choosing have been suggested.
Leo's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha for the care and compassion shown to him.
