Obituary

RACINE – Lawrence F. Janiak, 93, passed away at his home on Monday, March 19, 2018. Larry was born in Racine on May 15, 1924 to Joseph and Constance (nee, Kawecka) Janiak. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. On June 1, 1946, Larry married the former Rose Marie Kochanski at St. Stanislaus Church. She preceded him in death on April 24, 1988. Larry retired from Walker Mfg. after 44 years. In retirement, Larry loved traveling, playing cards, dancing and spending his winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Survivors include his children, Matthew (Linda) Janiak, Teresa Slaght, David Janiak, Paul Janiak and Constance Torchia; grandchildren, Jeremy and Jennifer Janiak, Cari and Rob Giesen, Heather Slaght, Joshua Slaght, Cassie Slaght, Nathan Weesner, Adam Janiak, Amanda Janiak and Marc Torchia; great grandchildren, Claire, Hannah, Paige, Taylor, Cruz and Kiley; and his sister, Adele Spieker. Larry is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Mattson; brothers and sisters, Edward Janiak, Frank (Stephanie) Janiak, Chester (Olga) Janiak, Matthew (Betty) Janiak, Leo Janiak, Eva (Clarence) Garbarek, Irene (Henry) Ruk and Emily (Henry) Arndt; his brother-in-law, Eugene Spieker; and very dear friend, Ella Johnson. In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.A special note of thanks to Aurora At Home Healthcare for taking care of Dad.
