LaVerne M. SimonsenRacine- LaVerne M. Simonsen, 79, passed away at her residence on Thursday, April 29, 2010.LaVerne was born in Racine on October 9, 1930 to LeRoy and Adeline (nee: Bukacek) Radtke. She married George H. Simonsen. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1989. Born and raised on a farm, LaVerne always had an appreciation for nature. Most importantly, she was a loving mother of 8 children; grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 7. She retired form Lovdahl manufacturing. Her interests and hobbies included a member of Lamberton Mother's Club; leader for Lamberton 4-H; enjoyed sewing, crocheting, mushroom hunting; and enjoying the company of friends, especially when playing cards. LaVerne is survived by her children, Gary (Sue) Simonsen, Donna Zaeske, Carol Holland, Jean Goers, Debra (John) and Judy Simonsen; grandchildren, Danae & Kelly, Emily & Cy: James, Bobby & Stephanie: John, Joel, Josh, Jacob Airen, Christopher Jake; Rachel, Scott & Kathryn; Ruth and Cheryl; 7 great grandchildren; sister Joan Simonsen and brothers, Gerald (Carol) Radtke and Donald (Linda) Radtke. She is also survived by other relatives and friends. LaVerne was preceded in death by her daughter, Terry Davis; son, Todd Simonsen; granddaughter, Katie Rose; brother, Norman Radtke and brother in law, Alvin Simonsen.A public visitation for LaVerne will be held at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, May 2, 2010 starting at 2:00 p.m. followed by a brief service at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Alan McCalister officiating. Interment will take place in Country Haven Cemetery
