Racine- Lance G. "Poncho" Steglin, 81 passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 in his home.
He was born in California on August 16, 1943 to the late Earl "Tex" and Dorothy (nee: Crook) Steglin. Spent his early years in California. Poncho graduated from Arroyo High School, in El Monte, CA. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy until his honorable discharge in 1968. He moved to Texas where he lived until moving to Wisconsin in 1993.
On November 7, 1998, in Las Vegas he was married to Louise L. Fettig.
Poncho was an over-the-road truck driver; he retired around 2008 and was employed with Peterbilt from 2012 until 2018.
He enjoyed reading, history, gambling, playing poker and grudgingly playing bingo with his wife Louise. They loved their many trips, especially to California. He was the proud Pops to 3 English Bulldogs, Jorja, DaZee, & RoXee.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Louise Steglin; his sister-in-law Kathleen (Donnie) Laska; his brother-in-law James (Ellen) Fettig; his sister-in-law Rochelle Fettig; his nieces and nephews Niah (Adam) Jaksic and their daughter Ania Jaksic; Kesmeyn Laska, Kayla (Aiden) Lopez and their children Finley and Isaac, Austin (Jacquelyn) Fettig, Shannon (Patrick) Sykes, Shawn Fettig and Allan (Jolle) Jordan; his cousin Annie Montgomery and her sons Joel & John (Cindy), their children Wyatt, Alyssa, John John and Isbella.
Poncho is further survived by his special friends, poker room buddies, and his truck driving family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law Ruth Fettig, brothers-in-law Larry and Kevin Fettig; his cousin John Montgomery, Mary Lee Gapper- Grandma, dear friends Allan & Sally Jordan, aunts and uncles & many friends.
A funeral service and full military honors for Poncho will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI 53182. Immediatley following the burial, a celebration of life will be held at Romine's High Pockets, 6125 S. 27

Street, Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.
