Obituary

STURTEVANT – Kriss Edwin Affolter, 63, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. If he had written this obituary it would probably read, "I got sick. I died." He was a quiet and gentle man who lived and died by his terms. He loved his family and his Harley, and not necessarily in that order. He was a good friend, a great uncle and the best brother. Kriss was born in Oconto, WI on June 9, 1950 to Edwin and Dorothy (nee, Kleckler) Affolter. In the mid 1950s, the family moved to Racine. Kriss was a1968 graduate of Horlick High School. He was employed by In-Sink-Erator, Ganton Technologies and most recently, CS Logistics. Kriss enjoyed most sports, especially football, hockey and racing. In his younger days he was an avid bowler with two 299 games. He was an expert card player with a wide variety of games, and will be missed at the Sheepshead table. Kriss never missed a family event and was a charter member of Team Uncle Kriss for family trivial pursuit games. His nephews and niece were always glad to have Uncle Kriss as a partner. He had the right answer about 95% of the time. Usually, Team Uncle Kriss was the senior Uncle Kriss and the junior Uncle Kriss, who proved to be formidable competitors. But his true passion and pride was his Harley. Usually, he was a lone rider, but there were cross country camping trips with buddies and the ride to Sturgis. Kriss is survived by his sister, Lisa (Jeff) Van Koningsveld; one niece, Sara Jane Van Koningsveld; two nephews, Aaron (Jill Braun) Van Koningsveld and Kriss Van Koningsveld; and two great nephews; Henry Van Koningsveld and Levi Van Koningsveld. Kriss is also survived by a special aunt; Sophie Kleckler and his double cousins; Lynn (Gene) Ludewig, Deb (Bill) Doolan, Robin (Bob) Homan, Steve Kleckler and Mark (Jayne) Kleckler, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his Godfather and uncle, Robert Kleckler; his Godmother and aunt, Karlene Peterson and other relatives. Please join us for a memorial gathering in celebration of Kriss' life at the funeral home on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Dress casually, we suggest jeans and a Harley T.
