Racine- Kenneth G. Kortendick, passed away peacefully at Liberty House on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Kenneth was born in Racine on November 11, 1931 to Aloys and Gertrude (nee: Lartz) Kortendick. He graduated from Horlick High School then enlisted in the army. He proudly served two years during the Korean war in the 761st Tank Battalion. He married Dorothy Hagner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on April 28, 1956. He worked for over 20 years at Webster Electric Company as a tool and die foreman. He later became a salesman for Better Building by Weather-Seal. He was very active at St. Rita's Catholic Church in the choir, as an usher, lector, and participated in many fundraisers. Kenny loved his cars - especially his first 1949 Cadillac. He could often be found tinkering in his garage or tossing one back after a long day's work.
Kenneth is survived by his children, Susan (Gale Grimmenga) Kortendick, Cynthia (Jeff) DeMarb, and Andrew (Julie) Kortendick, daughter-in-law Heidi Kortendick, grandchildren Brittany Kortendick, Alissa (Grant) Randall, Colleen (Michael) Barcone, Nicole (Kyle) DeMarb-McKenzie and Alexander DeMarb, great grandchildren Elliott Randall, Juniper Randall, Deladis Barcone and Bernadette Barcone and sister Barbara (Charles) Piechocki, and brother Thomas Kortendick. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, eldest son Timothy and brothers James, Robert and David.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Rita Parish, 4339 Douglas Avenue, Racine. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at noon. A committal service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
