Obituary
Karl P.Glassen, 84, passed away at Ascension Spring Street Campus on Monday, March 4, 2024.
Karl was born in Milwaukee on July 20, 1939 to the late Peter J. and Florence (nee, Trupke) Glassen, Jr. On April 11, 1964, he married the former Diane Kuether at Grace Lutheran Church in Racine. Karl had been employed at Nielsen Iron Works. He retired from S.C. Johnson after more than twenty years. Karl was a longtime faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He cooked for many events and served as an Elder for the church. He enjoyed building birdhouses, gardening, fishing and most importantly spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Diane Glassen; children, Karla (Rev. Shawn) Andersen and Peter (Kelly) Glassen; grandchildren, Ryan (Michaila) Andersen, Daniel (Hayley) Andersen, Leah (John) Heidenrich and Eve Andersen; and his great-grandchildren, Andrew, James Mia, Lily, Christopher, Ellory and Noah. Karl is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jim (Myrtle), Robert (Betty) and Paul (Mary Ann) Glassen.
Funeral service for Karl will be held St. John Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie Street on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will take place in Valhalla Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials to St. John Lutheran Church have been suggested.
