RACINE – Josephine I. Nelson, 95, passed away at home on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Josephine was born in Racine on March 16, 1921 to John and Christine Magamoll. She married Kenneth E. Nelson, celebrating 61 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in October 2004. Josephine was employed by J.I. Case Company. She was a member of Emmanual Lutheran Church. She loved playing piano and was active playing piano for Sunday School. Josephine was very active in the community, serving as president of the Women's Club; was a member of the Red Hat Society, Eastern Star Chapter 45 and the White Shrine. She also volunteered many hours with the Lutheran High School Thrift Store. Survivors include her children, Tim Nelson, Kathleen Bronson, Mary J. Nelson and Christine (David) Whitham; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great great grandchild; and a special niece, Corrine Villareal. Josephine is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Bronson; and sister, Viola Kubert. Funeral services for Josephine will be held at Emmanual Lutheran Church, 725 High Street, on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2 p.m. A private family interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m.
