Obituary

RACINE - Reunited with his beloved Eleanor at his side you can hear the sweet sounds of Joe's violin as he settles into his new surroundings with God's orchestra nearby. A remarkable man - a remarkable life. As a talented woodworker Joe worked with the Studios of Potente in Kenosha for 30-some years. His handiwork can be found throughout churches of all religious denominations in the form of pews, baptismal fonts, communion rails, lecterns, altars and wood sculpted figures and backdrops. He believed he had earned a free pass into heaven because he spent so many hours in so many different houses of worship. In addition to his artistic woodworking he was an accomplished carpenter and violin maker. When his working career came to an end he surrounded himself with music and playing his violin. A member of the Racine Symphony Orchestra for 30-some years, he even played under the direction of world renowned conductor Arthur Fiedler of the Boston Pops Orchestra during an Oktoberfest concert of the Racine Symphony at Prairie School. He traveled the world with Eleanor going to Hawaii twice; a European tour to include France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Italy and almost every state in the contiguous United States... From their early days as sweethearts, when he served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, throughout their 69 years 7 months and 18 days of marriage they enjoyed a lifelong journey filled with love, respect and lots of laughter and music, music, music!Joe is survived by his children Joe Zalesak, Susan (Robert) Youngblood and Jon (Vicki) Zalesak.
