Joseph F. SpellmanRACINE - Joseph F. Spellman, passed away Thursday, April 24 after an illness.Joe was born in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph and Margaret (nee: Kane) Spellman. He was a graduate of La Salle University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for a brief period during World War II. He was an insurance administrator for Maryland Casualty Company until he retired in 1991.Surviving are his loving wife, Phyllis and their daughters; Michele (Rick) Lunde, Andrea (Bob Schovain), Colleen and Caryn; five grandchildren; Jordan and Evan Schovain, Kelsey, Andrew and Tanner Lunde; two brothers, Francis (Rosemary) Spellman of National Park, NJ and Rev. John Spellman of Wilmington, DE; and sister-in-law, Sandy Smaczniak and brother-in-law, Gerald Felckowski, both of Buffalo, NY; and many other family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Peter and his sister Margaret. The Mass of Christian Burial for Joe will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. concelebrated by Rev. Henry Maibusch, O.S.A. and Rev. John P. Spellman. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Oblates of St. Francis De Sales or the American Cancer Society.The family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to Dr. Michael Mullane and Dr. David Zablotney and their staffs for the outstanding care they provided during his illness, as well as the staff at Hospice Alliance.
