Obituary

Racine –Joseph John Ondercin, 95, passed away March 1st, 2014 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove. Joe was born in Racine, Wisconsin on March 8, 1918, son of the late John and Anne Ondercin. During World War II, Joe served in the 103rd Infantry. He was combat wounded on his 75th day in France. Following the war's end, Joseph married Martha Swencki, also of Racine, who preceded him. He worked for Wisconsin Electric for nearly 4 decades. Joe was well known in the fishing community, fixing rods and reels as well as participated in the live WBBM radio, Southeast Wisconsin Fishing Report. He also volunteered his time with Boy Scout Troop 23. Joe is survived by daughters Patricia and Lynn, and a son, Timothy, and 6 grandchildren, Rob Baitinger, Lauren Edwards, Katherine (Frisch) Farley, Benjamin Frisch, Christopher Ondercin and Joel Ondercin, and three great-grandchildren, a loving and caring nephew, Tom Burczyk. A memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home, from 3 to 5pm on Thursday, March 6th. A eulogy will be given at 4pm.
