Racine – Joseph C. "Sarko" Gabrielian, 78, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Friday, October 16, 2009. Sarko was born in Aubagne, France on September 6, 1931. He moved the United States 51 years ago this October 18th. He married the former Elsie Margosian and had been married 45 years. Sarko retired from Bucyrus-Erie. He was very handy individual. Sarko is survived by his wife, Elsie Gabrielian; children, Jolene (Stuart) Nelson and Joseph (Susan) Gabrielian, Jr., grandchildren, Zachary Nelson and Jacob Gabrielian who were his pride and joy; and a brother in France, Jean (Marie Jeanne) Gabrielian. Sarko is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Sarko will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie Street, on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Private inurnment will take place at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Mesrob Church Sunday School or A.C.Y.O.A. Juniors.
