Jose Luis Tovar, Sr., 69, passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Friday, October 29, 2021. Jose was born in Crystal City Texas on December 2, 1951, to the late Martin and Eva (nee, Pineda) Tovar. He married the former Raquel Ortiz in Burlington in 1973. Jose loved watching Green Bay Packers games, wrestling, listening to classic rock and Tejano music, but most of all he loved his wife's cooking. Survivors include his wife, Raquel; children, Michelle Tovar, Lisa Martinez, and Jose Luis Tovar, Jr. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Guadalupe Tovar and Martin Tovar, Jr. A memorial service for Jose will be held at Taylor Avenue Church of the Nazarene, 2100 Taylor Avenue, on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Michael Ortiz officiating.
