RACINE- John Matthew Vernon, 66, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2020 at Season's Hospice- Ignite Medical Resort in Oak Creek. John was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary and stepmother Nancy as well as his sister Merry Ann and former wife Diane. He is survived by his wife, Debra, daughter Carrie (Steve) Lakatos, son Jim (Anne) Vernon, sisters Becky (Todd) Collins and Jamie Vernon, step brother Jeff Gearhart and Step children Amy (Michael) Payan, Adam Degerstedt, Deanna (Michael) McArdle, Gary (Pam) Hillman and James Hillman. John is further survived by grandchildren and numerous family members and friends. He served as a Racine Police officer for 29 plus + years and was a well-respected Tavern Owner at Fritz's. John will be deeply missed. In lieu of funeral services and to honor John's wishes, those who wish to honor John's memory please make donations to Season's Hospice. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
