John J.Schimanski, Sr.(The Mister)Racine - John J. Schimanski, Sr.(The Mister), 68, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 12, 2008.John was born in Racine on November 9, 1939 to Paul and Pearl Schimanski. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until 1960. On January 12,1963, John was united in marriage to Catherine 'Sue' Erway. He was employed by S.C. Johnson and Son for over 39 years, retiring in 1999. John enjoyed Sunday's at 7 Mile Fair, his '57 Chevy and watching the Packers. He also enjoyed growing pumpkins for his grandchildren and working in his pickle patch. John was a very generous man and was always there when you needed him. He enjoyed being in the company of his family and friends. John was a loving husband and a wonderful father and best friend to his children. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by his wife, Sue Schimanski; children, John (Mary Jo) Schimanski, Jr., Roy (Lisa) Schimanski, Sharon (Bill) Vlieger, Becky (Brian) Veto, Sandra (Keith) Burmeister and Vickie (Roger) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Jenni and Nate Schimanski, Greg and Rachel Schimanski, Logan, Lucy, and Abby Veto, and Jerod and Cordero Rodriguez; mother, Pearl Schimanski; brother, Jim Schimanski; and close family friend, Pete Vlieger. John is also survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services for John will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
