Obituary

John J. Halverson Racine - John J. Halverson, 72, passed away at the Zablocki V.A. Medical Center on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. John was born in Prairie du Chein on January 4, 1936 to Nels and Isabelle (nee, Toay) Halverson. John served in the U.S. Army. He graduated as an Electrical Engineering Technician from the Milwaukee Institute of Technology in 1961. John married the former Georgiana C. Brix in Marinette, WI on January 28, 1961. He worked as an Electrical Engineering Technician for over 35 years with Johnson controls in Milwaukee and as owner and partner of JDM International, Inc. John had a passion for gardening and was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. In the spring of 1969, John got involved in Crestview baseball, taking over as Commissioner soon thereafter. He loved umpiring baseball games from pony league, to high school, to college. John was a member of the Crestview Men's Club for many years, serving as its president. He was very active in the community in many different ways. Survivors include his wife, Georgiana Halverson; children, John J. (Debra) Halverson, Jr., Bryan M. (Theresa) Halverson and Melisa A. (Richard) Scott; grandchildren, Jake, Christopher, Isabelle, Maxwell, Hunter, Rylan, Emma and Sarah; his brother, Robert (Angie) Halverson; and sister, Mary Lee Wachter. John is also survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dane Halverson; granddaughter, Katie Halverson; and brother, Phillip Halverson. The Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held at St. Mary's by the Lake Catholic Church on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Caledonia Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m.
