Obituary
Joan Irene (Sorensen) Herman, passed away at home in Racine on January 22, 2025 according to her wishes.
She was born in Milwaukee on October 4, 1941 to Martin and Irene (Cook) Sorensen. Joan married Jim Herman on August 19, 1972 in Racine and together they raised 3 children. Joan was a happy homemaker who enjoyed swimming in her pool with family and friends. She loved bowling and card club with her twin sister Jean. She was an avid reader, gardener, baker and she loved to knot and donated hats, scarves and baby blankets. Joan was most happy while spending time with her grandsons Luke and Danny.
Joan is survived by husband James Herman, sons Daniel (Linda) Griffin and Randal Griffin. Daughter Julie (Danny) Dragic, brother Jerome (late wife Judy) and twin sister Jean (Richard) Shaw. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Sally (Herman) Schneider.
Joan will be cremated and a memorial brick will be placed in the springtime at the Wind Point Lighthouse Memorial Garden overlooking Lake Michigan.
The family would like to thank nurse Cindy and nursing assistant Secoria with Hospice Alliance. A special thanks to Laura Kohls, Julie's long-time friend for the loving supportive care she provided for Joan during this difficult time.
