Racine - Jay Price Ruffo, 84, passed away at home on December 26, 2012.Born Jeanette Von Price on March 31, 1928 in Oneonta, New York; Jay married Richard Vincent Ruffo on May 21, 1950 in Tarrytown, New York.Jay was a pioneer in the Racine business community, starting Jay Price Advertising in the 1960s where she produced television commercials for Porter's of Racine for over 30 years. For one of her commercials, she received an ADDY award in 1989. Jay was named one of YWCA's first Women of Distinction in 1988, and received an inaugural RAMMY award from the Racine Art Museum in 2009.Jay contributed almost 25 years of service to the Racine Art Museum and Wustum Museum serving four terms on the Board of Directors for RAM and serving as President of RAM's Board of Directors. She was passionate about art and the Racine community. Jay spearheaded the effort to bring two trolley buses to downtown for the community's benefit. Most recently, she was the moving force behind the RAM on the Road program to bring art to the community. Racine was her adopted home, where she devoted many hours supporting local charities and mentoring business women in the community.Jay is survived by her son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Diane; grandchildren, Elena and Nicholas; her niece, Mariah Best; and many, many friends. Jay was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her brother Donald and her sister Mary.A memorial visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, December 29th from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.; following there will be a reception for family and friends at the Racine Art Museum from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Jay's honor to The Racine Art Museum, The Racine Community Foundation or The Prairie School.
