Racine – Janet M. Kondrat, nee Anderson, 74, passed away peacefully at her home and as she wanted, with her sweetheart Joe, her daughters and dear friend, Sue Motszko by her side on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Jan was born in South Bend, IN on February 19, 1943 to Louie and Alyse (nee, Gjemre) Anderson. She grew up in Koontz Lake, IN. She graduated from Grovertown High School and Indiana State University with a Bachelors in Special Education. She received her Master's Degree from National Louis University. Jan taught Special Education in Hammond, IN and for Racine Unified School District for a combined total of 30 years, retiring in 2000. She was an avid reader and enjoyed swimming, water skiing, playing cards, gambling, gardening, canning, freezing and fishing. Most of all, she loved partying with friends and family. Jan is survived by her daughters, Stacey Kondrat Rogers and Mya Kondrat; granddaughters, Bella and Heidi Rogers; sisters, Dana (Larry) Cunningham and Alyson (Gus) Kruse; nieces and nephews, Kelly, Kyle, Karah, Angie and Julia; and her special companion, Joe D'Acquisto. Jan is also survived by other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place in Donaldson, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ascension at Home Hospice.
