Obituary

Janet L. Greco (nee: Kirchoff), 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, WI, after a long battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

She was born on June 9, 1944 in Racine, WI to the late Percy A. and Bertha R. (nee: Hoffman) Kirchoff.

Janet grew up in Crestview, the second of five children. Her fondest childhood memories were of playing on her grandparents' farm and attending church, where her love of God began. She attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse and later graduated from Horlick High School. She further graduated from the Kenosha Vocational School of Practical Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years at St. Luke's Hospital in Racine, finishing out her nursing career in an administrative role at Westview Nursing Home.

Janet was a talented poet and would frequently submit her writings to the Poetry Corner in the Racine Journal Times. She was a dedicated volunteer in the Foster Grandparent program of Racine, making a difference in the lives of the schoolchildren under her care. She volunteered her time in other capacities as well, including multiple mission trips through her church. Janet's biggest passion was her love of gardening, particularly planting flowers, creating a beautiful space for others to enjoy. At the apartment complex where she had been residing the last year, she, along with her grandson, transformed an area outside her building into a colorful, welcoming space. In her later years, Janet enjoyed "paying it forward". She stated she enjoyed helping people out because she had been where they were before. Above all, she was a woman of deep faith who always made sure her children attended church and that they receive a Christian education; she will be deeply missed.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three children, whom she always put first, Kimberly (Allen) Boscha, Victoria Greco and Kevin (Jaclyn) Greco. She further leaves behind her eight grandchildren in whom they called "Nana", Kristina (Tyler) Konecny, Kaylin (Nicholas) Sands, Klaire (Nick Bebow) Boscha, Peter Boscha, Arianna Greco, Gianni (Eleni) Greco, Mareno Greco and Olivia Byczek; and her five great-grandchildren, London and Harrison Sands, Neil and Kira Konecny and Kadian Greco. She is survived by her brothers-in-law Dennis Hansen and Michael Wieland, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by the many friends she's made over the years and especially by those she's made over the last year in her apartment building.

In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her daughter Kristine Greco; her sisters Judith Wieland, Jacqueline Hansen and Joyce Rightler; her brother Lawrence Kirchoff; her brother- in-law Larry Rightler; her sister-in-law Sue Ellen Kirchoff and her canine companion Eli.
