RACINE – Janet Garvey, 88, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014. She was beloved by all who knew her. Janet was born in Sparta, WI on October 28, 1925 to George and Adele (nee, Powell) Hinton. She married Patrick R. Garvey in Appleton in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1995. Janet is survived by her sons Patrick (Christine) of Racine and Thomas (Theresa) of Eagle, granddaughters Kerry (Joe) Scherer of Appleton and Cathryn (Jon) Leggio of Metairie, LA, and grandson Michael of Milwaukee and many relatives and friends. A Memorial service for Janet will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gardere Community Christian School, 5261 Highland Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70808 (www.gardereschool.com).
