RACINE – James Robert Slusar, 71, left this world to join his soulmate in heaven on Monday, January 22, 2018. Jim was born in Milwaukee on July 2, 1946 to Edward and Marie (nee, Datka) Slusar. He married the former Barbara C. Palama. Barb was the love of his life and preceded him in death. His family finds solace knowing they are at peace together. Jim loved his country, his career and his family. He was drafted into the military and proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as part of the Headquarters Command 11th Aviation Battalion Combat. Returning from the war, he started a family and a career, ultimately retiring from Superior Die Set. An all-American camper, Jim travelled the country, camping with his family. He loved fishing, football, his kids and grandpuppies. But where Jim found his most joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren. Jim fought a long, hard battle with kidney disease and congestive heart failure and died surrounded by his family. Survivors include his children, Tim (Jane) Slusar, Dena (Juan) Gomez and Joe (Tasha) Slusar; grandchildren, Tia and Zak Slusar, Alina, Sienna and Aston Gomez, and Tyler and Lincoln Slusar; his brother, David (Wanda) Slusar; and sister-in-law, Darlene Slusar. Jim is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-law, Russell Slusar, and Thomas and Ann Slusar. A visitation for Jim will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon. A celebration of Jim's life will begin at 12 noon, followed by interment with Full Military Honors at Highland Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to the family.
