James G. SchaeferRacine- James G. Schaefer, 86, passed away at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center on Tuesday, January 24, 2012.James was born in McHenry, IL on December 7, 1925 to John and Catherine (nee: Middendorf) Schaefer. He served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII and in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. James married Lorraine Schwengel at Shaw Air Force Base on October 9, 1950. He was employed as a Lithographer at Western Publishing until his retirement. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and the Eagles Nest. James volunteered for the American Red Cross and was a long time member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Schaefer; children, Mark (Jeanne) Schaefer, William Schaefer, Marie (fianc' Vic Villacci) Huff and Robert (Elizabeth) Schaefer; grandchildren, Eric, Stephanie and Michele Schaefer, Genoveffa Huff and Emily and Ethan Schaefer; great grandson, Collin Biagas and brother, Wilbert Schaefer. James is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Eleanor.Funeral services for James will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1015- 4 Mile Road, on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials to HALO or St. Andrew Lutheran Church have been suggested.
