Racine – James M. Osborne, 81, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 27, 2012,Jim was born in Milwaukee on February 17, 1931 to MacLain and Mathilda (nee, Keiffer) Osborne. Jim graduated from Bay View High School, Milwaukee, then went on to complete a five year apprenticeship program to become a journeyman steam fitter. Jim was an expert in heating and air conditioning and, working for various contractors, did major installations throughout southeast Wisconsin for over thirty years. Jim served in the U.S. Navy. He married and moved to Delafield, then later to Oconomowoc before returning to Racine where he felt most at home. In retirement, Jim attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside as a non-traditional student where he pursued his passions in painting, pottery, woodworking and poetry. He was a very creative person. Jim was a member of Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church.Survivors include his daughter, Karen F. Osborne; brother, George Osborne; and his former wife, Delores J. Osborne; Jim is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ann Marie Osborne; and his 'best friend', his collie, Laddie.Memorial services for Jim will be held at Olympia Brown Unitarian Church, 625 College Avenue, on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with his family at the church on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church.
