Obituary

Racine – James S. Hayek, 82 passed away at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Monday, March 11, 2013. James was born in Racine on January 15, 1931 to Stanley and Anna (nee, Pilger) Hayek. On June 29, 1957 he married Hilma L. (nee, Johnson) Hayek at Holy Communion Church and together they shared 53 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on December 7, 2010. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. James was a Senior Design Engineer for many years at Jacobsen Mfg. before his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Moose Lodge 437 and loved camping, fishing, playing cards with two other couples, for more than fifty years. His two latest joys were stain glass and woodcarving. Survivors include his children, Susan Hayek and David (Patricia) Hayek; sisters-in-law, Pearl Sura and Florence Ryan; many dear nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law, Lucille Simon; and brother-in-law, Earl Ryan. Funeral services for James will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials to the charity of your choice have been suggested.The family would like to thank some very special people, while the card games are no longer, the memories and love remain to our lifetime friends, Barbara (the late Jim) Kortendick and Vivian (the late Kenny) Clark. Thank you to our dear friends John (Linda) Kusters, Bob (Marie) Musiel, Bruce (Judy) Ekman and the late Arlene and Dick Hanson for your continued friendship and support.
