James M. Hamilton, Sr.Racine - James M. Hamilton, Sr. a lifelong resident of Racine died Sunday, February 11, 2007 at age 93. After graduating from Notre Dame University in 1935, he worked as vice president at The Dumore Company until 1950. He was President and Chairman of the Board of Greene Manufacturing until his retirement in 1988. His generosity and belief in community service were an inspiration to his family. He served as Board member and officer of numerous charities and was a Founding Member and President of Racine Theater Guild and Racine Community Foundation. He received the Racine Citizen of the Year award for outstanding service to the Racine community and the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to youth, as well as many other awards recognizing his volunteerism. Louise, his wife of 62 years, survives him along with children James (Patricia) Hamilton, Jr., Josephine (Paul) Yeoman, Maryann (Michael) Ricker, and Joan (Stephen) Greenberg, nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. His son Michael and brother Robert Hamilton preceded him in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 11 am with a private family interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 am until the mass.
