Racine – James J. Carravetta, 93, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026 at his residence.
Jim was born in Racine on January 24, 1933 to Vincenzo and Lena (nee: DeRose) Carravetta. He married the former Alyce J. Butterfield in Waukesha on June 26, 1954. She preceded him death on February 14, 2018. Jim was employed as an Engineer in Product Design for American Motors and as a Research Engineer for Modine Manufacturing. He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Ordinance Association. Jim also was a member of Water of Life Lutheran Church, formerly Epiphany Lutheran Church, Roma Lodge, the Elks Lodge, Meadowbrook Country Club, the NRA and a life member of the Wisconsin Sportsmen Association.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy (Mark) Vasey; grandchildren, Lauryn, Nick, Samantha, Amy and Joshua; his great grandchildren Mariah Martinez, Marciano Martinez, Julian Nava and Jalina Nava; his brother Richard Carravetta; and sister-in-law JoAnn (Jerry Nosotti) Carravetta. Jim is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Elizabeth Donaldson; brothers Joe Carravetta, Bob Carravetta and Frank Carravetta and his sisters-in-law Pat Carravetta and Grace Carravetta.
Funeral services for James will be held privately. Entombment will be held in Wisconsin Memorial Park.
